Supporting Ontario Infrastructure Investments and Lands (SOiiL Inc.*) was created in 2013 to encourage and facilitate the responsible and beneficial reuse
of excess construction soils in Ontario. SOiiL is a non-profit organization which provides a forum for individuals and organizations wishing to obtain
information regarding recent developments in Ontario involving the adoption of Best Management Practices (BMPs).
In addition to promoting the responsible handling of excess soils, it is also intended to support, educate and encourage the implementation of the Ontario
Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) new excess soils related regulatory regime.
SOiiL Inc. and the SOiiL logo are registered trademarks in Canada.
In December 2019, the MECP announced new regulatory requirements for the management of excess soils in Ontario. In conjunction with these
announcements there is now a planned implementation timetable for the various components of the new regulatory framework. Entities involved
in the planning, management, transportation and receiving of excess soils should make themselves familiar with these changing regulatory requirements.
To remain current on these regulatory announcements and requirements please go to the MECP's Environmental Registry, EBR# 013-5000. For
additional information on the finalized regulations and associated materials, including educational materials as they are developed, please
